003_Banners.jpgThe Labour Party is made up of people just like you.  We campaign for the many not the few.  We have elected representatives both in Parliament and in the City Council.

Stoke-on-Trent Central constituency

Our constituency stretches across the middle of the city from Hartshill to Ash Bank and from Cobridge to Adderley Green.  It covers the towns of both Hanley and Stoke together with Abbey Hulton, Baddeley Green and Bentilee in the East and Basford, Penkhull and Trent Vale in the West and everywhere in between.

 

Abbey Hulton and Townsend

The two member Abbey Hulton and Townsend ward covers the neighbourhoods of Abbey Hulton, Carmountside (part), Bucknall (part) and Townsend.

Baddeley, Milton and Norton (part)

1710_BM_Helen_photo.jpgThe three member Baddeley, Milton and Norton ward falls mainly in Stoke North with approximately a third in our constituency.  In our constituency are the neighbourhoods of Baddeley Edge, Baddeley Green (part), Carmountside, Light Oaks, Milton and Stockton Brook (part).

Our ward organiser is Helen Harrison who works for a local Labour MP.  Helen worked for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for many years and is active in the FBU.  She is secretary of North Staffs Trades Council and as our Women’s Officer wants to encourage more of our brilliant women out on the campaign trail.

Bentilee and Ubberley

The two member Bentilee and Ubberley ward covers the neighbourhoods of Adderley Green (part), Bentilee, Berry Hill (part), Moss Green, Parkhall (part) and Ubberley.

Steve Funnell is a former NHS and civil service worker who has taught Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at several universities.  Steve campaigns for the Labour Party throughout the area.  He is an active member of Unite the Union, Stoke and North Staffs local branch, and one of its delegates to North Staffs TUC.

1710_BU_Sheila_photo.pngSheila Pitt worked as an administrator in the ceramics and ironmongery industries.  She is a former Lord Major and Armed Forces Champion.  Sheila is actively involved with the Moss Green Village Forum, was central to getting the children's play area provided in Moss Green and has given a lot of support to the pensioners' group in Berryhill

Birches Head and Central Forest Park

Our ward organiser is Muhammad Aumir, a taxi driver and community activist.  Aumir is a socialist who believes strongly in a society having the values of social justice, equality, fairness, reward for hard work, good health and much more.  He believes that this dream can only be fulfilled by the Labour Party in power.

Boothen and Oak Hill

Your local Labour councillor is Andy Platt, an engineering worker who is active in Unite the Union.  Andy was elected for Boothen and Oak Hill in 2011 and was the Cabinet Member for Green Enterprises who won £52m funding for Stoke’s pioneering District Heating Network.  He lives in the ward and supports local businesses at every opportunity.

Etruria and Hanley

Your local Labour Councillor is Majid Khan, a community activist and retired restaurateur.  He lives in Shelton and has been a councillor since 2010 following 8 years as a local school governor.  He was elected by his peers to be Lord Mayor in 2014/15.  In 2016 he was elected Chair of The Labour Group on the City Council.

Your local Labour councillor is Amjid Wazir, a former pottery worker and CATU activist.  Amjid lives in the ward and is Chair of City Centre Mosque.  He is a successful restaurateur and believes passionately in equality and human rights.  Amjid believes that all communities can advance through our values of socialism.

Your local Labour Councillor is Shaun Pender a former Trade Union Studies lecturer at Stoke-on-Trent College.  Shaun is a Regional Officer for Unite the Union and he has been a councillor since 2011. He was formerly Cabinet Member for Education and is currently Chair of the Children and Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Joiners Square

The single member Joiners Square ward covers the neighbourhoods of City Waterside, Hanley East (part) and Joiners Square.

Our ward organiser is Andy Polshaw who joined The Labour Party in 2015 to support Jeremy Corbyn’s vision for Britain.  Andy works in computing and has lived in Penkhull for 12 years.  He has been very active campaigning for The Party and would very much like to see a Labour councillor elected in Penkhull and Stoke.

The single member Sneyd Green ward falls mainly in Stoke North with only about a fifth in our constituency including the Buxton Street, Derek Drive and Kelvin Drive area.

Our ward organiser is James “Big Jim” Bradbury, a warehouse operative and Unite branch secretary for his workplace.  He lives in Trent Vale and works in Stoke.  As a keen Labour activist Big Jim has helped form a local group, “Unity in the Community”, which aims to highlight the positives within our city and support local charities.
